Who’s here?

We’re proud to being hosting some brilliant people and organisations who’ve made The Ladder their creative home.

Naturally Learning

Naturally Learning Redruth is a beautifully restored nursery set within our charming old library. This thoughtfully designed space offers a nurturing environment for children aged 0-5 years.

The Baby Room provides a bright, sensory-rich haven for infants to explore. Our busy 2-3-year-olds thrive in an enchanting play area designed to balance security with challenge. The Preschool includes an Atelier,Project Space, and free-flow access to ‘TheDeck,’ allowing children to follow their interests and develop their creativity.

Beats & Roots Café

Beets and Roots is a veggie and vegan cafe nestled in the garden of The Ladder. Beets and Roots are Ben and Paul and every week they take us around the globe with a weekly special; highlights include Italian, French, Korean, Indian and many more. If you haven’t tried the Chimichanga, a deep-fried burrito, then you haven’t lived.

Tues-Thurs 10-3pm, Fri-Sat 11-7pm

Check their Facebook page for more information.

The Writers’ Block

With innovation and creativity at its heart, The Writers’ Block is both a place to write and a unique approach to developing confidence and skills in writing for everyone. Resident in The Ladder in Redruth, they have a range of activities from story sessions for very young children to writing masterclasses and everything in between. Explore their website and events page to find out more.

ChipFix

Chipfix Furniture is a design studio founded in 2014 by architecture graduate Luke Povey, specialising in custom-built, plywood-based kitchens and furniture. Luke utilises high-quality sheet materials and CNC routing technology to create furniture that is well-detailed, materially efficient, and cost-effective.

Luke has crafted all the bespoke carpentry at The Ladder, including a children’s play area, a performance stage, and beautiful display cases.

Harbour Festival

The Ladder hosts Harbour Festival, Redruth’s International Festival of Theatre, every two years. Harbour Festival exists to develop relationships between Cornish community organisations and international theatre artists.

See below for a showcase from our first festival in 2024 and to apply for residency for 2026.

RIFT

RIFT make stories into reality. Meeting at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre in Tottenham in 2009, Felix and Josh shared a vision to create cultural experiences which challenged convention. Over ten years later this has led to partnerships, place-making and productions all over the world.

The Darkroom in The Ladder

The Darkroom in The Ladder is a community photography and cinema space designed by Auburn Stone. The Darkroom is a work in progress and is designed to build aspirations of young people to work in photographic mediums while also sharing films and organising social events and workshops.
