About the event
Parents, carers, and children are invited to join us for a morning of guided family conversations about first phones. This interactive session will explore why young people need a phone, how to choose the right device, and what parental controls are, how they work, and why they matter. Families will also discuss the safety of mobile phone games, including the potential risks of “free” apps and games aimed at young people, as well as engage in critical conversations about social media and AI. The workshop will guide parents and children in creating a family digital devices agreement, helping to build trust, encourage responsible use, and foster open communication about the digital world
Curated conversations and practical workshops exploring:
What parental controls are, how they work, and why they matter
Whether “free” games and apps are really safe
How to have critical, age-appropriate conversations about social media and AI
