THE COLLECTOR / GENNI
Playing age: 30+
Any gender
Strong comic performer with physical theatre skills.
A wildly inventive double role. GENNI is a chaotic, over-eager underground caretaker and audience guide with clownish energy, warmth, and quick improvisational instincts. THE COLLECTOR is their grander alter-ego: part prophet, part museum curator, part post-apocalyptic gameshow host. The actor must shift fluidly between absurd comedy, eerie myth-making, and genuine emotional depth.
Excellent storytelling skills essential. Confidence with heightened language, dialect, audience interaction, and playful physicality required. Puppetry, devising, music, or movement experience welcomed.
FERN
Playing age: 18–30
Any gender
Bold, funny, instinctive performer.
FERN is an outsider from the mysterious Tonkin’s Ope — scrappy, hopeful, endlessly enthusiastic, and far more emotionally intelligent than they first appear. They become the unlikely hero of the story, venturing into the dangerous wastelands above in search of the last piece of Kernow Kwartz.
The performer should have strong comic timing, emotional openness, and a natural rapport with audiences. Physical confidence and a sense of adventure are important, as the role involves stylised performance, movement, and interaction with puppetry/micro-world storytelling. A performer who can balance anarchic humour with tenderness and wonder.
