Get Folk'd! Presents - Essy Sparrow & Lily Lyons

Essy Sparrow is a multi-disciplinary artist and songwriter creating gossip-filled, nostalgic indie folk from her coastal studio in Cornwall.

Her 2024 debut EP, Still Upset About It Actually, produced by Jemima Coulter (Hailaker), sparked TikTok virality, with the track Artists Dreamers reaching more than 2 million views.

In 2025, she played Boardmasters with BBC Introducing, supported Tors and Semler, joined Lily Lyons in opening for The Staves, and sold out her 200-capacity London headline show at St Mary with All Souls.

This year sees a near sold-out UK tour, a slot at The Great Escape, and the rollout of her sophomore EP, Gossip from a Coastal Town, rooted in her whimsical coastal life in Cornwall.

Already amassing more than 1 million views across Instagram and TikTok, the debut single Weddings and Funerals, produced by CJ Pandit, earned Essy BBC Introducing's Track of the Week in the South West and a spot co-hosting the show alongside Daniel Pascoe.

The project is a gossip-filled indie folk time capsule, weaving together sounds from a live local sea shanty band, a pirate ghost-tour guide playing accordion, and field recordings of the Cornish coast. The result is whimsical, fun, and slightly bittersweet storytelling that captures the character of contemporary coastal life.

Lily Lyons – Reopen The World

For Lily Lyons, music has always represented possibility. Growing up between London and Somerset, she found comfort and inspiration in the music of artists such as Simon & Garfunkel, Nick Drake and Joni Mitchell, whose tenderness and emotional honesty shaped her creative outlook.

Following a leap of faith to study music despite having no formal songwriting experience, Lyons quickly found her voice. Immersing herself in her craft in Cornwall, she developed a distinctive style that embraces contrasts: joy and sadness, softness and strength, intimacy and defiance. Early performances caught the attention of industry figures including Island Records' Darcus Beese, before Lyons eventually found her home at Fiction Records.

Her debut album, Reopen The World, is a celebration of self-discovery and resilience. Inspired in part by feminist ideas of autonomy and self-worth, the record explores identity, relationships and personal growth with warmth, vulnerability and quiet determination. Recorded largely live, its songs balance emotional honesty with a sense of hope, drawing on influences from folk, indie and singer-songwriter traditions.

At its heart, Reopen The World is an invitation to step fully into life—to embrace your own voice, trust your instincts and find strength in being unapologetically yourself.
